Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Lincoln County Criminal History, why that information is used, and the limited circumstances in which another service may receive it. Continued use of the website indicates acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Lincoln County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be kept so a response can be provided. Messages remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • The referring website, when one is available
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help produce aggregate information about page traffic, use patterns, and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although some website functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing search requests to the selected partner service
  • Maintaining website availability and performance
  • Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
  • Understanding which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lincoln County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to Lincoln County Sheriff Records, the Circuit Clerk, MSHP CJIS and the Missouri Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider establishes its own retention and disclosure practices, which are outside our control. Review those terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Lincoln County offices, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy practices apply. Review them before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Search providers that process submitted queries
  • Advertising networks that serve ads
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order compels disclosure

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information collected through the website. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so uninterrupted protection or the absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be made.

Your Data Rights

Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo., governs access to public records held by government bodies, while §43.506 addresses reportable offenses in the Missouri Central Repository. Those public-record laws do not make this private site a government custodian. For data held directly by this site, a user may:

  • Request access to information held about that user
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Request deletion where applicable
  • Opt out of eligible forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised. Any new version will be posted here and will carry an updated effective date.
